Born in 1939, Manu Parekh completed a Diploma in Drawing and Painting from the Sir J.J. School of Art, Mumbai. The artist is known for his paintings of the city of Varanasi.

Strongly influenced by his surroundings, vivid colors and prominent lines add character to his artwork. Parekh held his first solo exhibition of graphics and paintings in Ahmedabad in 1968 followed  by several private and public shows in India as well as internationally. The artist was awarded the President’s Silver Plaque in 1972 as well as the Padma  Shree Award from the Government of India in 1992.

The artist lives and works out of Delhi.
