ARUNANSHU CHOWDHURY

Born in 1969 in Hoogli, West Bengal, Arunanshu Chowdhury studied art at the  Faculty of Fine Arts, Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (1993- 1995).

Having born in Baroda, Chowdhury’s earlier works confront urban violence in a manner which does not shock, but rather leaves a lingering feeling of vulnerability, almost haunting the viewer. However, his current work emphasizes on  the new generation.

The artist’s work is more figurative. He uses  a combination of figurative objects both living and nonliving into a final image conveying his message. The artist has experimented his work across multiple mediums such as acrylic on canvas, marble dust on fiberglass, and watercolor.

Arunanshu was awarded with The Elizabeth Green shields, Foundation Grant, Canada and Ravi Jain Foundation Award, New Delhi in 1995.

He lives and works out of Vadodara.
