JAGDISH CHANDER


Born in 1954, Jagdish studied painting from the University of Delhi (1972- 1977). He was a research scholar from 1984-86 at the Department of Fine Arts, University of Tsukuba, Japan.

Chander’s recent works deal with the portrayal of human faces expressing emotions such as anxiety, happiness, triumph, anger, etc. His art reflects a balance between thoughts and feelings. Texture plays a vital role in his artwork. Strong confident brush strokes of color, lead to the artist’s final composition.

He has won multiple awards such as a Junior Fellowship in Painting from the Ministry of Human Resources & Development, Scholarships in painting from (University of Tsukuba, Japan) Japanese Government, Sahitya Kala Parishad award (Delhi) and many more.

Chander lives and works out of Delhi.
