SAMIR MONDAL


An alumnus of Government College of Arts, Calcutta, Mondal has held several solo shows in major cities of India and celebrated his 25 years of exhibiting in watercolour medium. Visited Paris and major cities of Germany for art study under INDO-FRG Cultural Exchange Programme. He has participated in many important group exhibitions including National Art Exhibition of Lalit Kala Akademi, Delhi, Karnataka and Orissa , ‘Freedom of Expression’ and ‘Tribute to Mother Teresa’ by RPG Enterprises, 100 Years of Indian Cinema, People for Animals, Harmony shows, ‘Art with a Heart’ at National Gallery of Modern Art, Bombay, ‘Celebrations-97′ at Napa Art Gallery, Nepal, ‘Confluence’ at Art Connoisseur Gallery, London and Gallery Asiana, New York in collaboration with Gallery Sumukha, Bangalore. He has received many prestigious Awards including AIFACS, New Delhi, and West Bengal State Academy Award (twice), and The Academy of Fine Arts Award (twice) and A P Council of Artists Hyderabad. His works are part of valued collections of National Gallery of Modern Art, Delhi, Museums of Karnataka, RPG Enterprises, Tata Steel, Birla group of companies, ICI India Ltd., Benson and Hedges, Morarji Mills, Brooke Bond, Citibank, Ministry of External Affairs, India, Office of Star Plus and many personal collections in India and abroad.
