SUHAS ROY


Born in Bangladesh, Suhas Roy (1936- 2016)  studied at the Indian College of Art in Kolkata and later went on a French Government Scholarship. The artist participated in many international exhibitions in India and abroad, such as International Youth Art, Prague (1956), Paris (1965, 1966), Tokyo Print Biennale (1970), Contemporary Indian Art, Belgrade, Budapest and Prague (1971), III Triennale, New Delhi (1975).

Famously known as the ‘Radha Series’, his works deal with female face and forms creating a balance between sensuality and innocence. His artwork is covered across multiple mediums such as charcoal, acrylic and watercolor. The versatile artist usually draws his inspiration from life around him trying to arouse his interpretations of the ‘unknown’.
